Our First Wedding Cake…Ever

Hello cake lovers!

Here’s a story we just love at Let Them Eat Cake!

In the Summer of 2010, the Cake Queen got a request to do something she had never thought of attempting before:  a wedding cake.

Up until then, her royal cake-ness had always said she never imagined herself doing wedding cakes.

The cake was for our dear friend, Jenna Crosswell (now Jenna Wallace).  Something had fallen through with the original person who was going to do her wedding cake, so she asked the Cake Queen for help!

Excited, but nervous, our beloved Queen of Cakes said that she would gladly make her first wedding cake for Jenna.

That’s enough introduction!  Here’s the cake!

Crosswell-Wallace Wedding Cake with Daisies

Close-Up of DaisiesAll the flowers and bows/ribbons are made from gum paste and fondant. Tiers of cake include red velvet with cream cheese/marshmallow icing, carrot cake (same icing), chocolate and vanilla cake with raspberry filling and raspberry merengue icing and of course, the most requested chocolate bourbon cake with chocolate ganache filling and chocolate buttercream icing!

Not too bad for a first, huh?  Actually, I personally think it ROCKS!

And the rest is history!  How neat that the Cake Queen never thought she’d ever do wedding cakes, and now she does so many of them!  Just proof that anything can happen!

Cheers,

Princess of Cakes
